10.1.1 Requirements to convert a foreign license.
An exchange of a foreign driving license can occur with or without a test. If your B driving license is not an EU license, not a Scandinavian license, and is not on the list of exemptions, you can apply for permission to exchange it for a Danish driving license. However, you must pass both a theory test and a practical driving test.
The application for permission to exchange must be made through a Citizen Service Centre (Borgerservice). The theory and practical driving tests can only be booked once the driving license application has been approved. The driving school can assist with preparation and book the theory test, which must be passed before the practical driving test. For both the theory and practical tests, you will need the Application for a Driving License (P23) form, a photo ID, a passport, and, if you are not a Danish citizen, a residence permit. For the practical driving test, you must use a driving school car, and the driving instructor will book the test once they determine you are ready to pass.
