7.3.2 Speed limit
The general speed limit applies unless otherwise indicated by local signage. If the speed exceeds the limit by more than 30%, the penalty is a suspension of the driver's license. A conditional disqualification is triggered in the following cases: The speed exceeds the limit by more than 60%, or reaches 160 km/h or more. Driving with a trailer and exceeding the permitted speed by more than 40%. Exceeding the speed limit by more than 40% in road work zones. An unconditional disqualification means the driver's license is revoked immediately. This occurs if the speed exceeds the permitted limit by more than 100%, with a minimum speed of at least 100 km/h. If the driving is considered reckless (e.g., street racing), the driver risks imprisonment and vehicle confiscation. General maximum speed limits for buses, trucks, and cars with trailers: On highways, motor vehicle and country roads: 80 km/h (an increase from 70 km/h, effective since January 2020). On highways, vehicles may travel at higher speeds if they are approved and marked with a “Tempo 100 km/h” sticker sign on the back.
